Pathways of Central Ohio

The Center for Prevention Services (CPS) at Pathways of Central Ohio uses a comprehensive, systematic approach to address mental, emotional, and behavioral health disorders. Grounded in research-based prevention science, CPS promotes personal growth and self-reliance among individuals, families, and communities. The Center coordinates services and trainings and provides technical assistance for concerns related to substance use and mental health disorders, bullying, suicide, problem gambling, and violence. CPS staff are certified by the Ohio Chemical Dependency Professionals Board and the American School Counselor Association and receive extensive training in multiple evidence-based curricula.

Through this site, users will have access to 2-1-1 information, Play It Safe Ohio resources, the Youth Leadership Council, UTurn registration forms, and a Parent Education Center.

WIC - Women, Infant and Children  is a federally funded nutrition program that supports pregnant women, new mothers, infants, and children up to age five who meet income guidelines. The program provides healthy food benefits, nutrition education, breastfeeding support, and referrals to healthcare and community services. WIC helps families improve health outcomes by ensuring access to nutritious foods and reliable nutrition guidance during critical early years of development.

OhioMeansJobs is a statewide workforce development system in Ohio that helps job seekers and employers connect. It provides free employment and career services such as job search assistance, résumé help, career counseling, skills training, and access to education or certification programs. OhioMeansJobs also supports employers with hiring, recruitment, and workforce training, making it a central resource for building skills and finding employment across the state.

The Winter Sanctuary

The Winter Sanctuary of Mount Vernon provides a seasonal emergency shelter for members of our community experiencing homelessness during the coldest months of the year. Beyond offering a warm, safe place to sleep, the Winter Sanctuary connects guests with local resources and supportive services that promote stability, independence, and long-term success. Through compassion, partnership, and community support, the Winter Sanctuary helps individuals take meaningful steps toward self-sufficiency.

United Way of Knox County is a local 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Mount Vernon that works to strengthen the community by raising funds and strategically investing them in programs that address key needs in education, health, and financial stability across Knox County. It partners with local agencies and runs or supports initiatives that help children succeed in school, assist families in achieving financial independence, and improve overall community wellness. The organization also offers resources like free tax preparation assistance and a community resource navigator, and organizes volunteer events and fundraising campaigns to support its work.

Kno-Ho-Co

Knox County Ohio (Kno-Ho-Co) serves the residents of Knox, Holmes, Coshocton, and Ashland counties by working to strengthen our communities and improve quality of life for low-income individuals and the working poor. We help people meet basic needs, build stability, and move toward self-sufficiency through programs that address housing, utilities, food access, transportation, employment support, and other essential services.

In addition to providing direct assistance, we actively identify gaps in local services and work to address unmet needs within our communities. Through strong partnerships and collaboration with residents, community groups, elected officials, local leaders, and service agencies, Kno-Ho-Co is able to coordinate resources and deliver a wide range of programs that support individuals, families, and neighborhoods.
